I’m so thankful that in this house we have 3 nice sized drawers in our bathroom vanity. However, the disorganization was getting to both me and my husband. It was taking far too long to get ready in the morning because we couldn’t find what we were looking for. I needed some bathroom vanity drawer organization desperately! It was time to get to work.
As I’ve been working on setting up my home and getting all the little nooks and crannies organized, I’ve discovered something. There are a handful of spaces that are a must for me to organize first. These are spaces that take anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes to organize and cost little to nothing to complete. However, they have a HUGE impact on our day to day life.
So I’ve decided to highlight 8 different spaces in my home over the next 8 weeks. You will find simple, affordable, and practical tips to help you get your home and life a little less cluttered and a little more organized in the spaces you use the most!
Our bathroom vanity drawers were a complete disaster. I’d been putting this project off for one reason or another. Most likely because I thought it would take a ton of time. In reality this entire project took me less than 15 minutes.
We had 3 major problems when it came to the lack of organization and function of our bathroom vanity drawers:
- We were storing far too much stuff in the space.
- Items were hard to find since things were stacked on top of one another.
- When we opened the drawers, items shifted causing the space to become more and more disorganized during each use.
I knew that the solutions were simple and easy. It wouldn’t take much to make this space functional. We needed to:
- Purge all of the unused items.
- Make everything visible when the drawer was open.
- Find tight fitting organizers to fit the space and corral small items.
Bathroom Vanity Drawer Organization
Top Drawer
This is mainly my husband’s drawer. However, I also store my toothbrush in this drawer since this is where the toothpaste lives. This was one of our biggest issues because everything would shift around terribly when we opened the drawer. I measured the drawer and went on Amazon to see if I could find a solution. What I found was a junk drawer organizer that is a perfect fit for this space in more ways than one. It has several small compartments, fits the space perfectly, and has rubber grip feet so it won’t shift at all. Plus, it was only $4! (Please remember that prices on Amazon fluctuate often. This may or may not still be the price of this item.)
Middle Drawer
This is my main drawer. It holds everything from hair items to makeup wipes and deodorant as well as my lotions and body sprays. I decided to utilize items I already had on hand to organize this space. In the larger basket on the left, I’ve compartmentalized my hair trims as well as a space to store my contact case. On the left I keep my makeup wipes, glasses case, and a bottle of lotion as well as my deodorant. In the back I’ve wedged my body spray…an item I use frequently, but not necessarily every day.

Bottom Drawer
This drawer is just for my larger hair tools. I have two curling irons, a straightener, a hair dryer, a brush and a comb. I also store a few larger headbands in the back that I use from time to time. I purged this drawer down to just what I use. I decided that this space was functioning fine without any organizers for now since it doesn’t hold a ton and the items are large and don’t need to be compartmentalized.
Remember, sometimes we don’t need to buy organizers for our spaces. We just need to purge!
If your frustrated by the disorganization in your bathroom vanity, let me encourage you to purge what you aren’t using regularly. I’ve been there! When we keep more than we need or use, we become overwhelmed. All it takes is a small amount of time, maybe a few dollars in organizers, and the mentality to purge to get things functioning for you and your family. So if you’ve been putting off an organizing project for far too long just like I was, get to it!
SHI says
Great idea! I love the drawer organizer. I use it for extra toothbrush tips, sunscreen, and other items in my linen closet. It works pretty well. Though because my linen closet is shallow, I had to purchase the smaller one.
