Oh, it’s such a perfect time of year for chili! I love it on a cool late fall night when it’s slightly overcast and there is a crisp breeze in the air! However, I don’t always love trying to remember to throw it together at the last minute when the 4pm madness hits. Mamas, you know what I mean! That’s when I decided to make my chili in the crock pot and it has completely revolutionized our chili-lovin’ nights!
This is a super simple, budget-friendly chili recipe I inherited from my mom. It doesn’t call for any crazy ingredients and the hardest part about it is browning the hamburger. I love meals like that! This chili was one of the first meals I made for my husband. I like to think it solidified the deal! 😉
You will need to gather your ingredients: 1 lb. ground beef, 1/2 cup of onions, 2 cans Brook’s chili hot beans, 1 can tomato sauce, 1 can diced or stewed tomatoes, 2 cans tomato juice, and 2-3 tsp. of chili powder.
Begin by spraying your crock pot with cooking spray. Trust me, you will thank me later! It took me years to figure this one out. It’s a well-kept secretly that I’m sharing with you! Or maybe I’m just the last one on the cooking spray in the crock pot train! 🙂
Brown 1lb. of hamburger with onions until no longer pink. Drain off fat and add to the crock pot.
Add the remaining ingredients and stir well. Cook on low for 4+ hours.
It’s that easy! You really can’t mess this up! I serve it with homemade cornbread and a handful of shredded cheese on top!
