Let’s face it. Life as a mom can be hectic, overwhelming, busy, and chaotic at times. Many days my head hits the pillow completely exhausted, but I can’t seem to remember anything I actually accomplished that day. But there are also the days that I feel proud and productive by all I was able to do. I’ve come to realize that using printables to organize your day is one of the best ways to really make order out of the chaos!
While I’m definitely an organized person, I’m also very forgetful. If it’s not written down, it’s probably not happening! Are you like that too?! It can be super frustrating at times. But I also know that lists are my best friend! Which is why I absolutely adore printables. They totally keep me sane.
I love using my Daily Docket printable as a way to give my day some order. As a mom to two little boys, I can often forget the daily to-dos or important appointments. However, if I have a schedule for my day, I know I can keep things in check!
I love to use the daily docket because it includes time blocking. I can give myself an estimated time to work on different tasks. And no, I’m not super stringent with this! It’s more of a routine for my day rather than a strict schedule I must stick too. But it does give me structure to my day.
As much as I hate to admit it, I also try to schedule in time to play with my kids. If I’m not super intentional about this, I can go through my day trying to be super productive and end up not spending nearly enough one on one time with my boys.
I think it’s a wonderful skill for my boys to learn to play by themselves. However, I’m a stay at home mom for a reason and that means spending quality time snuggling on the couch with a few books, building Legos, baking cookies, and teaching them new skills. Adding this time into my daily routine really helps me to be a more intentional mom.
I like to set 3 big goals each day that I try to accomplish. When I say big, I don’t necessarily mean time consuming! 🙂 I only have 24 hours in my day just like you! But I always feel very accomplished at the end of the day if I complete these three goals.
My goals might include things like bake bread, complete weekly cleaning routine, declutter my desk, wash 2 loads of laundry, or take the boys to the park. They can be a big mixture of both productive tasks or fun projects, but they are always things that will bring me joy when they are finished. 🙂
I like to use the Cleaning Tasks section of my Daily Docket printable as a place to write in my “extra tasks.” These are my regular weekly to-dos, but more things that come up throughout the day or week that need attention. These might include things like change the air filter, vacuum the sofas, or clean out a closet or cupboard that’s become a little overly cluttered. Next week I will be talking in much greater detail about my weekly cleaning routine so stay tuned! 😉
I like to use my daily docket as a place to list out what’s for dinner each night. I try to fill out my daily to do list the night before so I can easily add in what I’m planning to cook from my meal plan. This allows me to thaw out any meat I might need and prep anything else ahead of time.
The last thing I try to make a plan for is exercise. I have really struggled with consistent exercise and healthy eating the past few months. I’m super excited to get back into it! I’m planning to use this little section to just jot down my workout for the day and then, here is the kicker, schedule in time to actually complete the workout! 🙂 I’m also planning to use my health and fitness tracker to really work towards my health goals for 2017!
So that’s how I’m keeping my days organized as a busy mom. It’s not perfect, but it’s really helping me to be more intentional with my time. I’m really seeing how using my time wisely will help me reach all of the goals I have set for myself in 2017!
I’m so happy I have set up a plan to really stay organized this year! I’m already seeing so many benefits of having all of my to-do lists, notes, planners, and trackers in one location with my home management binder.
