Have you ever considered downsizing your possessions to just what you truly use and love? It definitely takes a major shift in mindset. However, once you start, it’s hard to stop!
When you begin to free your home and yourself from the possessions that are weighing you down, several things will start to happen in your life.
You will probably begin to notice some of these benefits right away. Other’s will take a little more time. But you will definitely find some major advantages to living with less.
#1 – Cleaning is easier & less time consuming.
This one may seem obvious. But the simple fact is that if you have less stuff to clean, it will take less time. It’s much easier to clean around a few beloved items than a plethora of junk you don’t even like.
#2 – You no longer have to constantly search for the things you need.
When you have less stuff, it’s much easier to find a designated place for each item. When everything is organized, you can find what you need quickly and efficiently.
#3 – Getting ready in the morning becomes a much simpler process.
You will love everything in your closet so picking out your clothes will be simpler. You won’t be overwhelmed by the amount of hair or makeup products because you will only have what you use and love.
#4 – You start to find joy in your surroundings.
If you are overwhelmed by the clutter or just don’t like some of the things in your home now, get rid of them. If it’s not bringing you joy or used regularly, it’s time to say goodbye. Once you do this, you will find joy because you will only be surrounded by the things you really love.
#5 – You become less focused on material possessions and value experiences more.
Do you find that you spend way too much money at Target or on Amazon? Think back just over the past month. How many times have you purchased items on a whim. Once you embrace a simpler lifestyle you will find that spending money like this will be more of a burden than a joy. You won’t want to fill your home back up with clutter because you worked too hard to make it a peaceful place. You will begin to think through each purchase and always sleep on it before you hand over the cash.
You will find much more joy in spending money on experiences than on physical items. Experiences provide lasting memories. Physical items will often times be discarded and forgotten.
#6 – You begin to save money and your financial situation begins to improve.
Minimalism will almost certainly cause a shift in your shopping and consumption habits which will in turn affect your finances. Since you won’t be shopping nearly as much, you will almost certainly find some wiggle room in your budget that you can put towards something you really love.
Maybe it’s that vacation you’ve wanted to take with your family. Maybe you have always wanted to invest, but never thought you had the funds. Or maybe you want to do a remodeling project on your home.
Whatever it might be, your financial situation will definitely improve when you simply stop shopping and start living.
#7 – You become a happier wife and mom.
There are so many more benefits of living with less stuff, but none are quite as important as the pure happiness and joy you will experience. This will ultimately overflow into the rest of your life and you will become a happier wife and mom. Nothing is as important as this.
You will become less stressed by your home and have more time to invest in your family. You won’t be constantly picking up messes and trying to stay afloat. Rather, you will have the ability to implement simple routines that can be done efficiently since there will be less to take care of. This will inevitably free up time and give you a new freedom to do things you really love and have a passion for.
