Last week I shared our family’s special recipe for homemade white Christmas candy. Today, I plan to finish off with a special recipe for chocolate Christmas candy. This recipe is even easier than the last and is my personal favorite!
Making Christmas candy is such a fun tradition that I remember from my childhood. I’m so excited I get to pass it along to my boys as they grow up as well.
This chocolate Christmas candy is to die for. If you love butterscotch and chocolate, you will love this recipe! This recipe is fairly inexpensive to make. I found all of the ingredients to make a batch of this recipe from Aldi for less than $5.
All you need is a package of butterscotch chips, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and dry roasted salted peanuts.
Before you begin, make sure to have a piece of waxed paper ready on a countertop or table.
In a microwave safe bowl, combine 1 package of butterscotch chips and 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips.
In a separate large bowl, measure out 2 cups of peanuts.
Microwave the chips for 1 1/2 minutes. Stir. Microwave for another 1 – 1 1/2 minutes until completely melted.
Using a spatula, quickly pour the melted butterscotch and chocolate over the peanuts. Mix well.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper. Let the candies harden for 1 1/2 – 2 hours or until no longer sticky. You will want to store these candies in an airtight container. Make sure to put waxed paper between layers so they don’t stick together.
What are your favorite Christmas goodies?
