While I love seeing beautifully decorated homes in magazines and all over Pinterest with Christmas literally exploding everywhere, I don’t actually live in a home like that. Our home isn’t Pinterest-beautiful or filled with thousands of dollars of Christmas decor. I don’t have the space or the budget for that! But we do love our home and the sentimentality that it’s filled with this time of year. So grab a cup of coffee and come on in to our minimal Christmas home tour!

Over the past few years, we’ve been slowly simplifying our Christmas decor. My style has changed over the years and instead of lots of little trinkets, I much prefer a few larger, more meaningful items. And I love decorating with items that bring back memories of Christmas past. There is something so nostalgic about pulling out the same Christmas decorations year after year.

So today you get to be a fly on my wall so to speak and take a peek at my Christmas decor!
ENTRYWAY & LIVING ROOM
The first thing you see when you come in our home is this piano. It belonged to my grandmother and I adore it. No, I’m not a talented piano player. (I wish!) But I am attempting to teach myself some of the basics. Beside the piano is our shoe cabinet which is from Ikea. Yes, it’s as awesome as it sounds! All the shoes area hidden away.
I’m definitely no interior designer, but I do try to stick with odd numbers as I decorate. The piano is no exception. I love visual symmetry so the two small Christmas trees flanking the Silent Night sign is eye candy to me!
Our living room is right when you come in. If you’ve been a long time reader, you know our sofa is in a new place! We rearranged to create more space for our Thanksgiving gathering and actually loved the cozy feel it gave this space so, for now, it stays.

Opposite the sofa is our Christmas tree, television, and one of our blue chairs. The other chair was relocated temporarily to our master bedroom.
I love the nativity scene front and center. I purchased this from Target a few years back, but I believe they still have it. It’s super simple and very affordable! The manger is from Hobby Lobby a few years ago. But I know they always come out with a few different manger options each year!
The throw pillows on our sofa are actually just covers I purchased on Amazon. I shared a quick tip on my Facebook page a few weeks ago about how I stopped purchasing throw pillows and instead purchase pillow covers. And Amazon is ALWAYS my go to place! They have tons of options and they are super affordable. Plus, it’s so much easier to store a stack of covers you can easily switch out rather than a bunch of pillows. I also purchase my pillow inserts from Amazon.

Our Christmas tree is filled with sentimental ornaments and family memories. I’m sure Pinterest wouldn’t approve, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! 😉
Between the Christmas tree and our sofa, we store all of our children’s Christmas books in a basket below the end table. We LOVE reading books and have several Christmas books. It’s become a family tradition to read a handful of these books each night with our kids before bedtime.

Under the other end table we store all of our hats and gloves since our garage door is directly behind it. I like to keep our decor minimal and I don’t like storing a lot of extra stuff. So I like to use red berry picks in some of my regular florals to give them a festive Christmas feel! I did just that in the lambs ear pot above.
KITCHEN & DINING ROOM
If you turn around, you’ll enter right into our kitchen. If you know me well, you know I’m a pretty big fan of clutter-free countertops! So I only add a couple of festive Christmas touches to this space. It’s enough to keep it cozy, but leaves me plenty of room to do LOTS of Christmas baking! 😉
I have a small jar filled with candy canes beside our coffee pot. My boys sure do enjoy these! And they make for good stirring sticks for coffee and hot cocoa this time of year.
I have a small wreath I place around a candle in the center of my island. I purchased this from Target from the Hearth and Hand collection last year. But I’m pretty sure they still have something similar.
I placed a small Christmas tree next to my kitchen sink. And I almost always have out a seasonal scented hand soap from either Bath and Body Works or Mrs. Meyers! 🙂
Our dining room is directly adjacent to our kitchen. Again, I keep our decor in this space very minimal. I’ve found that a little bit goes a long way with Christmas decor. The “less is more” approach seems to be my life mantra these days!
I inherited this white milk glass vase from my grandmother and I love filling it seasonal with different florals. These faux red hydrangeas add the perfect punch of red to this space.
I also used some red berry picks again to add a little pop of red to the wreath and lamps ear pots on the sideboard.
MASTER BEDROOM
Next let’s head into the master bedroom! I really love to keep our master bedroom very neutral in color. I prefer for this space to be restful and relaxing. But I do LOVE Christmas so adding a few little Christmas touches was essential. I purchased the pillow from the Hearth and Hand line at Target a few years ago.
I strive to keep my desk as clutter-free as possible. It doesn’t always happen! But it’s my goal. I did add a small Christmas tree beside the picture frame on the right. But other than that I left this space bare this year and it’s made my work time much easier!
And a new addition to our bedroom is this HUGE entertainment unit we recently built! Behind the barn doors is our television and bookshelves. We tend to check books out from the library or just listen to them on Audible, but we do have a few. The outside shelves are perfect for decorating! I have my small Christmas village which belonged to my grandmother on the left. On the right I’ve just added a festive Christmas sign next to our Bibles. The cabinets below the shelves store our out of season decor. I’ve limited myself to this space so if it becomes full, I need to purge!
And that’s it! All of the spaces in our home where we’ve added little touches of Christmas. It’s not much, but it’s perfect for us. Less to store. Less to clean. Less to maintain.
After all, Christmas isn’t about the decorations. Or the Christmas tree. Or the presents.
