27 Fun Facts About Me

Tomorrow I turn 27. I still can’t believe it and most days feel like I should still be in college, but then I look at my boys and realize I’m not as young as I sometimes feel!

27 Fun Facts About Kaitlin

Since I’ve been at this blogging thing for about a month now, I thought I would share 27 fun facts about me so you can get to know the girl behind this little ol’ blog!

1. I was raised in the same house my mom was raised in on 8 1/2 acres of corn fields in the midwest.

2. I was a complete slob as a teenager, but when I went away to school that all changed. Now I’m borderline OCD at times! 🙂

3. I have 1 sister who is almost 8 years younger than me. We look very similar, but she is a natural blonde.

4. Since I was an only child for almost 8 years, I craved having siblings. I now want to give my kids a lot of siblings. My husband wants 2 kids. We will see where this one goes! 🙂

5. I danced for 15 years of my life. Even though I am no longer a dancer, I still see it as a big part of my life.

6. I make to-do lists all the time and leave them in random places around my house. If I don’t get my thoughts down on paper they will keep spinning in my head until I do. (P.S. My husband stated yesterday, “I love marking things off on lists.” Yes. This is why I married him and will love him forever. 🙂 )

7. I met my husband during my last week of finals during my sophomore (his senior) year of college. We went on our first date May 8th, were engaged on July 4th, and married December 19th of the same year. Yes, it was fast, I was young, and I’m pretty sure we caused our parents a good deal of stress. But when you know, you know!

8. Tom and I went on a cruise for our honeymoon in January to the Bahamas. They had record lows and we spent most of the time in sweatshirts and jeans. However, we loved it so much we dream of the day when we can take another cruise just the two of us!

9. I sometimes bake cookies just so I can eat some of the dough. Shhhh! Don’t tell! 🙂

10. I’m a Christian. I attend a PCA Presbyterian Church and I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

11. I always decorate for Christmas around Veteran’s Day. Yes, I know this is ridiculous early and most people think I’m crazy, but I LOVE Christmas!

12. I got pregnant with my first son just 10 months after my husband and I got married.

13. I struggled for 22 months with secondary infertility while trying to get pregnant with my second son.

14. I have the cutest Goldendoodle ever named Baxter!

15. By the time I was 24 I had purchased 2 homes and sold 1. I hope to not buy or sell another house for a long time!

16. I adore the show Fixer Upper! Joanna Gaines is amazing. She is beautiful and has such amazing style.

17. Going along with #16…Since I was a little girl, I have dreamed of one day living in an old farmhouse that my husband and I fix up ourselves.

18. I love to decorate my house with things that I and/or my husband have made. I feel like it really makes a house a home when you give things a personal touch. Plus, it’s much more affordable, which I LOVE!

19. I’m the spender. My husband is the saver. We don’t have everything figured out and make a lot of mistakes. I sometimes spend too much. It’s a bad habit I’m working on.

20. I drive a minivan. Enough said.

21. I’m a first born, type-A, perfectionist. I’ve eased up on my perfectionism over the years, but I still have a lot of type-A qualities.

22. I possess both introverted and extroverted tendencies. While I talk to people very easily in certain situations, I would much rather be at home than anywhere else. I’m very much a homebody.

23. I have a degree in elementary education. One day, I plan to go back to teaching, but for now I’m enjoying being a stay-at-home mom.

24. I enjoy trying new recipes. However, I’m not one who can experiment in the kitchen. I need a recipe that tells me exact measurements. I’m fine changing things up a bit, but I definitely need a starting point!

25. While I love decorating and making my house beautiful, it most definitely is not pinterest-worthy. I enjoy a warm and cozy home. Most of the things in our house are hand-me-downs, gifts or projects we’ve built or created ourselves. We’re cheap like that.

26. I love to read, but I’m definitely more of a non-fiction girl. I think I crave the learning aspect of non-fiction. However, I do enjoy a great fiction book from time to time!

27. I’ve considered starting a blog for over 4 years now, but never gave myself that push. My husband has commented several times over those 4 years that I should start a blog. I’ve finally jumped out and started The Mom On Purpose and I’m so happy about it! I can’t wait to see where this blogging journey of mine takes me.

After writing 27 things about myself, I’m realizing that 27 isn’t a small number! 🙂 I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed writing it! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask in the comments below or shoot me an email at kaitlin {at} themomonpurpose {dot} com.

It’s your turn! Tell me a fun fact about yourself!
